Several sources are reporting that there was a civil lawsuit filed yesterday (March 3) in Alachua County Circuit Court, against rapper Plies, his brother Ronell Lavatte, and his label over a 2006 shooting at a concert in Gainsville, Florida. According to the suit, the five victims who suffered gunshot wounds claims that Plies and his label have “profited from the victims’ suffering,” by using the incident to boast record sells.

On July 2, 2006 while Plies was on stage performing a fight broke out which was followed by the shooting. After the smoke was clear, Lavatte, 31 (aka Big Gates) and Tory Denard Carnegie were charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing into a sold-out crowd. Levatte served three years in prison after pleading no contest to weapons charges.

More details on this story later.
